Arabi Facts Hub (AFH) held a training workshop on fact-checking and disinformation detection for journalists and fact-checkers from Algeria, from September 15 to 19, in partnership with Digital Action.

The training covered methodologies and tools to help detect disinformation on social media, fact-check political statements, analyze digital ads, and finally, utilize creativity and visual elements to engage audiences and produce compelling reports.

The sessions were led by expert trainers in fact-checking and digital rights, aiming to enhance participants' skills in combating disinformation and creating creative, story-driven reports that captivate audiences.

Training program for Algerian Journalists on Fact-Checking and Disinformation Detection:
1- Analyzing Paid Digital Ads
Fact-checking expert, Craig Silverman, presented advanced strategies for analyzing paid ads, identifying funding sources, and developing effective strategies to understand and interpret the content of these digital ads.
2- Fact-Checking Methodologies and Tools
Trainer Ahmed Gamal, led a practical session on verifying news, starting from selecting suitable topics for fact-checking, to gathering accurate information, and writing coherent reports.
3- Creative Content Production to Combat Disinformation
Trainer Mohamed Al-Qaq, discussed techniques for analyzing images and videos accurately and producing reliable content with a creative touch, as well as strategies for crafting visually appealing content to engage audiences.
4- Tools and Techniques for Verifying Statements
Trainer Hussein El-Sherif, provided insights into analyzing statements, identifying disinformation, and using digital tools to verify information and produce accurate journalistic reports.
5- Fact-Checking Claims Related to Minorities
Trainer Watan Noairat, shared a methodology for verifying information related to minorities, and how to detect disinformation targeting women, children, and people with disabilities.
6- Understanding Digital Harm
Trainer Mona Shteya, presented the challenges of the digital space, ways to protect against it, and modern digital harms, including the spread of disinformation and online discrimination.
The Arabi Facts Hub (AFH) successfully completed its training program for journalists and fact-checkers from Algeria, offering participants the opportunity to submit ideas for producing fact-checking reports in collaboration with AFH.
