A message circulating on WhatsApp groups read: “The Jaba Municipality has been officially notified of the seizure of Mount Harish, on which the Sanur settlement will expand with 51,000 settlers at the beginning of the new year.”
Kashif verified the information and found it to be fabricated. Kashif contacted Jaba’a Mayor, Mohammed Badad, who denied the information, asserting that it was a baseless rumor.
The head of the Northern West Bank Settlements Council, Yossi Dagan, announced the establishment of a council to return to the settlement of Sanur near Jenin, which was evacuated in 2005. In May 2025, the Israeli-Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth confirmed that the Israeli security cabinet secretly approved the construction of 22 settlements in the West Bank, noting that the decision includes the re-establishment of the settlements of Homesh and Sanur, which were previously dismantled as part of the “disengagement” plan.
